Empowering Sri Lanka with 5G

 Empowering Sri Lanka with 5G

As human beings living in the 21st century, we had many new experiences that our ancestors did not see. It is no exaggeration to say that in today’s world there is no shortage of everyday civilizational changes. In particular, the technological revolution seems to be growing exponentially. It is a matter of pride that even though our forefathers installed this development, today's 6generation is leading it on a path of rapid development. The first thing that comes to our mind when it comes to technology is its speed. That's because in today's smart world, we can achieve our goals faster by acting fast. In particular, 5G (5th of Generation of wireless mobile network) is the 5G technology we are all eagerly awaiting. 5G Technology is coming with many different new features than the 4G Technology currently in use. Scientists say that 5G is capable of transmitting information about 400 times faster than 4G. The speed of 4G technology is between 10Mbps - 20Mbps, but the lowest speed of 5G technology is reported to be 1Gbps and the average speed is 10Gbps. Here the speed of 4G is measured in megabits and the speed of 5G is measured in gigabits. From this we can know the speed of 5G. There is no doubt that the introduction of such a technological change can bring about a variety of changes throughout Sri Lanka. It will increase the income of Sri Lanka. In particular, such technological advances can bring about a wide variety of changes in the medical field, education, tourism, transportation, and domestic production.

First of all, if we look at the advantages of 5G technology, it only takes 3.6 seconds to download such information on 5G technology as it costs 6 minutes to use 4G technology while downloading the information we need. Thus it takes 70 milliseconds in 4G to transmit information from one person to another while less than 1 millisecond is enough to transmit the same information using 5G technology. By being able to exchange information quickly, banking services in Sri Lanka can be expedited and online shopping can be expedited. Items can be picked up shortly after we order. In addition, the use of 5G technology in the production of automated vehicles can significantly reduce traffic congestion in urban Sri Lanka. Thus accidents are often avoided. IOT, which is also used in vehicles, is also used in technology so that in the event of an accident, the information can be automatically sent to the nearest hospital and the damage can be minimized, and with 5G technology, more devices can be used at higher speeds in the same area. Thus we can receive services in different ways simultaneously.

Scientists say 5G technology includes 5 new things. Millimeter waves, small cell, Massive (MIMO), Bemforming, Full duplex. If we explore these a little deeper, the millimeter wave has a high frequency (30GHZ -300GHz) which allows us to exchange a lot of data quickly. Due to this we can transfer 5 times more data than 4G. So you can get various benefits by using this. Especially supportive of contemporary education systems. It is also required for banking services. The wavelength of these millimeter waves is short, so it does not travel long distances. Vulnerable to buildings, trees, etc. So to solve this problem a thing called small cell is involved. That is, a small cell tower will be placed at the rate of one tower per square kilometer. Thus the signal of 5G technology will be delivered uniformly fast to all devices without interruption. Next look at the massive only 10 to 12 antennas used to get 4G technology fitted. Due to this, only a limited number of shows can be included. But the massive technology in 5G can be used to connect more devices than the more than a hundred antennas in the 5G tower. Thus the chance of getting a buffering problem is very low.
Scientists say that even if more devices are connected together, there will be no reduction in speed. Everyone can share it to suit their devices. That is why Bemforming technology is used. The technology is to carry the millimeter waves coming through the various antennas in a tower very fast to the device to be joined without interruption. Thus you can perform different services in one place with fast speed. There is no doubt that this will greatly enhance the online learning process in Sri Lanka. And we can use the devices at the speed we need while traveling through Bemforming. Next, if we look at the full duplex, 4G technology uses a way to send and receive a signal. This requires a much higher frequency band, which results in higher costs. Technique is included in 5G technology to reduce it. This means that the signal can be sent and received in the same band. It sends the signal at high speed using a Si transistor called round reperacity at the junction of the sent signal and the received signal. Thus the cost is lower than 4G. Scientists also say that the tower that consumes 5G uses much less electricity than 4G. Next, technology has its pros and cons.
Ecologists and social activists say that if we look at such evils, there is a chance of extinction of various species living in the world. We already know that various butterfly species, bees and bird species became extinct with the introduction of 4G technology. Similarly if 5G is introduced there are chances of further extinction. Scientists say that not only animals but also humans are prone to various problems. The use of millimeter waves in 5G technology has been linked to the possibility of vision problems, skin diseases, reproductive problems, genetic modification and cancer. But the radiation coming from 5G technology will directly affect everything from man to man. The benefits of such technological advances are therefore appreciated. Yet each of us as human beings is compelled to do our best to minimize evils as much as possible. It is worth mentioning that mobile network operator mobitel, which is considered to be an important network in Sri Lanka, has announced that it will invest US $ 50 million in 2019 to launch 5G in Sri Lanka. With the introduction of 5G technology in Sri Lanka, there is no doubt that various sectors will make great strides. We benefit from using such technologies only for good.
