Empowering Sri Lanka with 5G

 Empowering Sri Lanka with 5G

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution” is one of the famous quote said by Albert Einstein, the greatest physicists of all time. The ability to communicate with people has progressed remarkably with the time. But out of all those communication methods and modes, the mobile wireless developed in a very short span of time period. In the past few decades, the mobile wireless communication networks have evolved from zero generation to first generation (1G), second generation (2G), third generation (3G) and fourth generation (4G) respectively. These all systems are being deployed with the aim of the quality service to the users. When we consider the evolution of the mobile wireless industry, it has started its technology based creations and revolution since early 1970. From that time period up to now, the concept of wireless communication networks has become much more ubiquitous than anyone could have imagined. The mobile subscribers were also increased by 40% per year and according to the statistic representations, there were four times more mobile subscriptions that fixed telephone lines at the end of year 2010. Therefore, that rapid growth of cellular subscribers over the world as well as in Sri Lanka has depicted conclusively that wireless communication is a vigorous, practical curriculum of transportation of voice and data.

Nowadays, mobile wireless technology has reached 4G or 5G technology. When we consider about 5G term, it is the fifth generation mobile network which is faster than 4G technology. Actually 5G technology enables a new format of network that is designed in order to connect effectively with everything and everyone together such as machines, objects and devices. There are several properties that have increased the performance and efficiency of 5G technology like more reliability, increased availability, massive network capacity etc. 5G is a merged and more capable air interface. It has been designed to enable more extended capacity to next generation user experiences. It is also empowered with new innovative models and services. Therefore, 5G will expand the ecosystem of mobile wireless technology into the new monarchy. It will surely impact every industry, transportation modes, health sector, agricultural sector and many more aspects around the world as well as in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is a developing country. It has a high literacy rate development compared with many countries. Then what is actually Sri Lanka needs? Our country really requires a high level of economic development. 5G is an outstanding phase where we can see a different level of economic development throughout our country. The impact of 5G is much greater than previous network generations. The requirements for the development of 5G network are also expanding beyond the typical mobile networking modes to industries. There are several studies that have revealed the new inventions of 5G technology. Therefore, 5G is a promising remark for the future job market. And there are many emerging and new applications that will still be defined in future. Presently, the Sri Lankan market is preparing for the widespread use of 5G networks. According to the “Paul Budde Communication’s focus report on Sri Lanka”, it is building a national fiber network which will be linked with many international related cables. And many major mobile operators have also conducted pre – commercial 5G trials during past years in order to empower Sri Lanka with 5G technology. Sri Lanka is also enriched with the best 5G phones at present. Therefore, this 5G auction will have a good impact on empowering Sri Lanka with 5G technology as well as its economic growth.

The empowerment of technology is more significant as a source of communication. Even though it deals with the use of technologies, it is very helpful to empower individuals through networks, information and digital trades. Actually as Sri Lankan, we are so lucky as the technologies are present everywhere despite being a developing country. It also helps us to make our chores quickly and accurate. The 5G technology can be entitled in Sri Lanka in order to have best technology based benefits to our lives. Therefore, as a developing country, Sri Lanka should have a common goal to attain such inventions for the next generation. It is one of the main responsibilities of a well - educated and authorized community to empower the country with technologies like 5G in order to have a sustainable future.
